Personalized Care
Feel Supported Through Every Stage of Pregnancy
Pregnancy changes the way your pelvic floor, core, hips, back and breathing system work together. Pain, pressure or bladder leakage may be common, but you do not have to simply wait for delivery and hope the symptoms improve.
Dr. Melissa Scholl provides private, one-on-one pelvic floor physical therapy in your home. She evaluates how you move, breathe and manage pressure, then builds a practical plan for greater comfort, confidence and preparation for birth.

Symptoms That May Benefit From Pelvic Floor Therapy

- Low-back, hip, groin or tailbone discomfort
- Urine leakage with coughing, sneezing or movement
- Pelvic pressure or heaviness
- Difficulty staying active or exercising comfortably

Your Treatment Plan
How Pregnancy Pelvic Floor Therapy May Help
Care is based on your symptoms, evaluation and goals—not a one-size-fits-all routine.
Pelvic and Back Comfort
Address mobility, muscle tension and movement strategies that may reduce strain.
Core and Pressure Support
Coordinate breathing, abdomen and pelvic floor as your body changes.
Pelvic Floor Coordination
Learn both activation and complete relaxation instead of doing more Kegels automatically.
Birth Preparation
Practice positions, breathing, mobility and pelvic-floor lengthening for labor and delivery.
Activity Guidance
Modify walking, lifting and exercise so you can stay active with greater confidence.
Postpartum Planning
Understand early recovery, body mechanics and when postpartum therapy may be useful.

Understand the Why
Birth Preparation Is More Than Kegels
The pelvic floor needs strength, but it also needs mobility, timing and the ability to relax. Repeating contractions is not automatically the right answer for pelvic pressure, pain or muscle tension.
Melissa helps you understand what your body needs now and teaches strategies you can carry into labor, delivery and postpartum recovery.

Pregnancy Pelvic Floor Therapy FAQs
Is pelvic floor physical therapy safe during pregnancy?
Pelvic floor therapy can be adapted for pregnancy and is based on your trimester, symptoms, medical history and guidance from your obstetric provider.
When should I start during pregnancy?
You can begin whenever symptoms, movement concerns or birth-preparation questions arise. Some people start early for pain or leakage; others schedule later to focus on labor preparation.
Can therapy help with pubic symphysis or SI joint pain?
Treatment may improve strength, mobility, load management and movement strategies that contribute to pelvic girdle discomfort.
Do I have to have an internal pelvic floor assessment?
No. Any internal assessment is optional, explained in advance and completed only with your consent. You may decline or stop any part of the evaluation.
Can therapy help me prepare for labor?
Care may include breathing, pelvic-floor relaxation, mobility, labor positions, pressure management and education about pushing mechanics.
Do you provide in-home pregnancy visits?
Yes. Melissa provides private home visits throughout Elmhurst and the current western-suburb service area.
Does BCBS PPO cover pregnancy pelvic floor therapy?
The Healthy Pelvis is in-network with BCBS PPO plans. Coverage and patient responsibility vary by plan, and benefits can be checked before your visit.
