Bladder Leakage Is Common—And It Deserves a Real Evaluation
Urinary leakage can happen with coughing, sneezing, lifting, running or a sudden urge. The cause is not always simple weakness. Pelvic-floor tension, timing, breathing, pressure management, bladder habits and whole-body strength may all contribute.
Melissa evaluates how those pieces work together and creates a plan for your symptoms and goals—not a generic Kegel handout.

Does This Sound Familiar?
Symptoms That May Benefit From Pelvic Floor Therapy
A personalized evaluation can help determine which muscles, habits and movement strategies deserve attention.
- Leakage with coughing, sneezing or laughing
- Leakage during running, jumping or lifting
- A sudden urge followed by leakage
- Postpartum bladder leakage
- Leakage after prostate surgery
- Using pads or changing clothing because of accidents
- Avoiding exercise, travel or social activities
- Doing Kegels without meaningful improvement
Your Treatment Plan
How Pelvic Floor Therapy May Improve Bladder Control
Care is based on your symptoms, evaluation and goals—not a one-size-fits-all routine.
Correct Muscle Use
Learn whether you are lifting and closing the pelvic floor or bearing down and compensating.
Strength and Endurance
Build the amount and duration of support your current activities require.
Timing and Coordination
Train the pelvic floor to respond before coughing, lifting, landing or standing.
Breathing and Pressure
Coordinate the diaphragm, abdomen and pelvic floor during movement.
Bladder Strategies
Address urgency, frequency, fluid habits and bathroom routines that reinforce symptoms.
Functional Practice
Carry pelvic-floor control into exercise, work, parenting and daily life.

Understand the Why
More Kegels Are Not Always the Answer
Some people need strengthening. Others need better relaxation, timing or pressure control. Repeated squeezing can be unhelpful when the muscles are already tense, fatigued or poorly coordinated.
An individualized assessment helps determine what to train, how much to practice and how to progress the skill into the movements that actually trigger leakage.

Bladder Leakage & Incontinence Therapy FAQs
What types of bladder leakage do you treat?
Care may help with stress incontinence, urge incontinence, mixed symptoms, exercise-related leakage, postpartum leakage and post-prostatectomy leakage.
Are Kegels enough to stop bladder leaks?
Sometimes strengthening is useful, but technique, relaxation, timing, breathing and whole-body movement also matter. The correct plan depends on your assessment.
Can therapy help if I leak during exercise?
Yes. Treatment can evaluate impact, load, breathing, strength and coordination, then build a graded return to the activities that trigger symptoms.
Can bladder leakage improve years after childbirth?
Pelvic floor therapy can still be useful even when symptoms have been present for years. Your plan is based on current findings rather than how long ago symptoms began.
Is an internal assessment required?
No. It may provide useful information, but it is optional and completed only with your informed consent.
How many visits will I need?
Visit needs vary with the type of leakage, starting function, goals and response to treatment. Progress is reviewed and the plan is adjusted over time.
Do you treat men with bladder leakage?
Yes. Melissa treats men with urinary symptoms, including leakage before or after prostate surgery.
