A calmer way to receive care

Why patients choose in-home pelvic floor therapy

Pelvic health is personal. Removing the commute, waiting room and unfamiliar clinic environment can make it easier to talk openly, learn comfortably and put a plan into practice.

More privacy

Your visit happens one-on-one in your home. There is no shared gym, crowded waiting room or need to explain your care to anyone else.

Less logistical stress

Skip traffic, parking and extra travel time. In-home visits can be especially helpful during pregnancy, early postpartum recovery or after surgery.

Care that fits real life

Exercises can be adapted to the chair, stairs, workout space, baby gear or daily movements you actually use—not an idealized clinic setup.

Your full visit is yours

Appointments are not handed between aides or multiple providers. Education, assessment and treatment remain directly with Dr. Melissa Scholl, PT, DPT.

A familiar environment

Some patients find it easier to relax their breathing, abdominal wall and pelvic floor when they are in a place that already feels safe and comfortable.

Family-friendly scheduling

A sleeping baby, childcare need or limited mobility does not have to prevent you from receiving skilled pelvic floor care.

Your appointment, step by step

What happens during an in-home visit

Every plan begins with your symptoms, goals and comfort level. Treatment is individualized; an internal pelvic floor examination is never automatic and is always optional.

  1. 1

    A private conversation

We review what you are noticing, what has changed, your medical history, activities and what you want to be able to do with more confidence.

  2. 2

    Movement and breathing assessment

Melissa may look at posture, breathing, abdominal pressure, hip and trunk mobility, strength, balance or the movement that tends to trigger symptoms.

  3. 3

    Pelvic floor assessment, when appropriate

External observation or an internal vaginal or rectal muscle assessment may provide useful information, but only after explanation and consent. You may decline or stop at any time.

  4. 4

    Treatment and practice

Your visit may include hands-on techniques, muscle relaxation or strengthening, breathing, movement retraining, scar work, bladder or bowel strategies and a concise home plan.

  5. 5

    A clear next step

You leave knowing what we found, what to practice, what to modify temporarily and how progress will be measured at future visits.

Answers before you begin

Frequently asked questions

Is in-home pelvic floor therapy as private as clinic care?

Yes. Visits are one-on-one and take place in a private area you choose. Melissa explains each part of the visit before it begins, and any internal pelvic floor assessment is optional.

Do I need special equipment or a large room?

No. A private room with space for a portable treatment table or exercise mat is usually enough. Melissa brings the table and small treatment or exercise equipment needed for the visit.

Can my baby be home during a postpartum visit?

Yes. In-home care is designed to reduce childcare barriers. The plan can pause for feeding or comfort needs when necessary, although another adult can be helpful if a baby is very active.

Does BCBS PPO cover a concierge home visit?

The Healthy Pelvis is in-network with BCBS PPO, but coverage depends on your specific benefits, deductible, coinsurance, medical-necessity rules and visit limits. Benefits are checked before care whenever possible; verification is not a guarantee of payment.

Will every visit include an internal examination?

No. An internal examination is never automatic and is not required at every visit. Melissa discusses why it may or may not be useful, and you can decline or stop at any time.

How long are visits?

Appointment length is confirmed when you schedule. The visit remains one-on-one with Melissa rather than being divided between multiple patients or support staff.
