Personalized Care

Recovery Deserves More Than “Just Give It Time”

Your body adapted through pregnancy and birth, and recovery is different for every person. Leakage, pelvic pressure, scar discomfort, core weakness or pain with intimacy can affect daily life long after the early postpartum checkup.

Melissa brings specialized postpartum physical therapy directly to your home, where your plan can address feeding positions, lifting, stairs, carrying your baby, exercise and the movements you perform every day.

Your Treatment Plan

What Postpartum Therapy May Include

Care is based on your symptoms, evaluation and goals—not a one-size-fits-all routine.

Pelvic Floor Recovery

Restore strength, relaxation, coordination and endurance based on your individual findings.

Core Rebuilding

Improve abdominal function and pressure control without chasing a perfectly flat midline.

C-Section Support

Address scar mobility, sensitivity, abdominal strength and movement after surgical birth.

Prolapse Strategies

Use breathing, lifting and activity modifications to manage pressure and support recovery.

Return to Exercise

Progress from foundational strength to running, lifting, classes or sport.

Real-Life Movement

Practice carrying, feeding, stairs, floor transfers and other daily demands.

Understand the Why

Postpartum Care Can Start With the Goals You Have Now

You do not need to wait until symptoms are severe or until you are ready for intense exercise. Early visits can focus on comfort, breathing, mobility and daily movement; later visits can build strength, speed and endurance.

The goal is not to “bounce back.” It is to help your body recover and give you a clear, progressive path toward the activities you value.

Important: Postpartum healing timelines vary. Exercise and scar work should be progressed around your delivery, symptoms and medical guidance.

Common Questions

Postpartum Pelvic Floor Therapy FAQs

When can I start postpartum pelvic floor therapy?

Timing depends on your delivery, healing and symptoms. Some care can begin early with education and gentle movement; internal assessment and higher-level exercise are introduced only when appropriate.

Can therapy help after a C-section?

Yes. Postpartum care may address scar mobility, abdominal coordination, core strength, posture, lifting and return to exercise after C-section.

Can pelvic floor therapy help with diastasis recti?

Therapy can improve abdominal function, pressure management and whole-body strength. The plan focuses on function rather than only measuring the gap.

Is leakage normal after having a baby?

Leakage is common after pregnancy and birth, but it is not something you have to accept. An evaluation can identify strength, coordination and pressure factors contributing to it.

Can therapy help with pelvic pressure or prolapse symptoms?

Treatment may include pressure-management strategies, pelvic floor and core training, bowel education, activity modification and gradual return to exercise.

Can I bring or care for my baby during the visit?

Because care happens in your home, the appointment can be planned around your baby and daily routine.

Does insurance cover postpartum therapy?

The Healthy Pelvis is in-network with BCBS PPO plans. Coverage varies, and benefits can be reviewed before your first visit.
