Personalized Care
Pelvic Pain Is Real, Personal and Often Multi-Factorial
Pain may involve the pelvic floor, hips, back, abdomen, tailbone, nerves, breathing and the way your body protects an area that has hurt for a long time. A focused pelvic health evaluation looks beyond one muscle or one diagnosis.
Melissa listens first, explains what she finds and creates a plan that respects your comfort and goals. Treatment can be modified at every step, and you remain in control of the evaluation.

Does This Sound Familiar?
Symptoms That May Benefit From Pelvic Floor Therapy
A personalized evaluation can help determine which muscles, habits and movement strategies deserve attention.
- Aching, burning or pressure in the pelvis
- Tailbone, groin, lower abdominal or hip pain
- Pain with sitting, exercise or certain movements
- Pelvic-floor tightness or difficulty relaxing
- Pain during or after intimacy
- Pain with bowel movements or urination
- Symptoms that flare with stress or muscle guarding
- Feeling dismissed or unsure where the pain is coming from
Your Treatment Plan
A Whole-Body Approach to Pelvic Pain
Care is based on your symptoms, evaluation and goals—not a one-size-fits-all routine.
Pelvic Floor Relaxation
Improve awareness, lengthening and the ability to fully release muscle tension.
Breathing and Nervous-System Support
Use breathing and graded movement to reduce guarding and improve confidence.
Hip and Spine Mobility
Address nearby joints and muscles that influence pelvic loading and movement.
Manual Therapy
When appropriate and desired, hands-on care may address mobility, sensitivity and muscle tension.
Bowel and Bladder Coordination
Reduce straining, urgency or habits that can reinforce pelvic-floor tension.
Return to Activity
Progress sitting, walking, intimacy, exercise and work without a fear-driven all-or-nothing approach.

Understand the Why
A Tight Pelvic Floor Is Not Necessarily a Strong Pelvic Floor
Muscles that stay tense can become painful, fatigued and less effective. For that reason, repeated Kegels may worsen symptoms for some people. Treatment may begin with relaxation, mobility and coordination before strength work is added.
Melissa will explain the reasoning behind your plan so you understand which exercises fit your body and which ones should wait.

Pelvic Pain Physical Therapy FAQs
What conditions can pelvic pain therapy address?
Care may help with pelvic-floor muscle tension, tailbone pain, pain with intimacy, pelvic pressure, postpartum pain and musculoskeletal contributors to chronic pelvic discomfort.
Will treatment be painful?
Treatment should not force you through pain. Melissa uses your feedback to adjust positioning, pressure, exercises and pacing.
Is an internal pelvic floor assessment required?
No. Any internal assessment is optional, explained beforehand and completed only with your consent.
Can tight pelvic floor muscles cause pain?
Yes. Overactive or poorly relaxing muscles can contribute to pain, pressure, urinary symptoms and difficulty with bowel movements or intimacy.
Should I do Kegels for pelvic pain?
Not automatically. If the pelvic floor is overactive, more contractions may be unhelpful. The right exercise depends on your evaluation.
Can you help if tests have been normal?
Physical therapy can assess muscles, movement, breathing and function that may not be captured on imaging or routine medical tests.
Do you treat pelvic pain in men?
Yes. Melissa provides private pelvic floor therapy for men with pelvic, groin, tailbone, urinary and bowel concerns.
